 a home away from home

  An idea becomes reality

Seventeen years ago when Rick and Peggy Johnson got married their family and friends came to the wedding event and found themselves scattered around the area because there was no hotel in or close to Holmen. Since Peggy's parents owned a resort north of Green Bay, they were both qualified and prophetic when they said to their daughter, "There should be a hotel here."

In early 2005, Rick and Peggy visited with Brickl Bros. about that original hotel idea; they came in with no pre-conceived idea about what it should look like, but knew they wanted it to be unique and different from other hotel properties. Jim Brickl spent the quality time to make suggestions and to help them choose an architectural style and motif that would be both distinct and cost-effective. A "prairie style" look was selected and the Prairire Inn and Suites was designed and created.

Pictures and scenes of the Coulee Region, the Mississippi River, and, of course, the natural local prairies have been selected for the wall hangings and accents. Peggy commented, "We want our Prairie Inn to reflect the clean, fresh and natural beauty of the area. We didn't want to go to an outlet and just buy bulk pictures and scenes to put on the walls." Peggy says, "it will be a clean place, too" as she recalls how as a young girl she asked, "Mom, do we really have to do all this mopping and cleaning?" "Yes," her Mom told her. "The customers expect that." Rick adds, "I traveled a lot in my work and have stayed in many hotels. I know there's nothing worse than a bad bed, so one thing we will have at Prairie Inn is good quality beds and bedding."

The Johnson's, with the assistance of Brickl Bros. and Jim Brickl, put in a lot of effort so the Prairie Inn and Suites will have the look and feel of home. When family and friends come to town for family functions or community events, the Prairie Inn and Suites will be a place where the comforts of peace, quiet, privacy, alone time and a good night's sleep are achieved in a home away from home.

   Your referrals are appreciated

When Rick and Peggy Johnson were referred to the Brikl Bros., they experienced the genuine pleasure of working with and for a young, energetic couple with fresh ideas, a positive outlook, and a mission to build a comfortable property that people will want to come back to again and again. So when your family, friends or business associates come to visit, we ask you to consider referring them to the new Prairie Inn and Suites between Holmen and Onalaska. We think you'll be glad you did!

  The comforts of home

Rick and Peggy wanted their new property to be as homey as it could be. Inside you'll find hallways are a little wider, "mission style" furniture to fit with the style and lines of the building, and warm and cozy fireplace in the lobby. Outdoor seating and a picnic area are just outside. The rooms are well sound-proofed and contain family amenities like a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and more.
